Impact of the Number of Fingers of a Selective Rake Receiver for Uwb Systems in Modified Saleh-valenzuela Channel
نویسندگان
چکیده
The study for this paper focuses on searching the optimal number of fingers to be used by a Selective-Rake receiver using different ultra wideband systems. The presence of multipath fading has been taken into account using a modified Saleh-Valenzuela model. Coherent and non-coherent detection has been performed within different combining approaches. Non-coherent techniques have been implemented with and without power estimation. Results show that in non-coherent systems the optimal number of fingers Dopt required for the detection is lower than for coherent ones. On the other side, an increase of signal-to-noise ratio causes Dopt to get higher, which is the same trend noticed while passing from a line-of-sight (LOS) channel to a nonLOS one.

متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of RAKE Receiver for UWB Systems using Measured Channels in Industrial Environments
The industrial environments are an important scenario for ultra wideband (UWB) communication systems. However, due to large number of metallic scatterers in the surroundings, the multipath offered by UWB channels is dense with significant energy. In this paper, the performance of RAKE receivers operating in a non line-of-sight (NLOS) scenario in these environments is evaluated. The channels use...

متن کاملModified MSSNR Based Channel Shortening for UWB Receiver Design Simplification
Ultra wide band (UWB) propagation channels are highly rich in multipaths. A major problem encountered in UWB systems is to capture enough multipaths to maintain a sufficient signal to noise ratio (SNR) for further signal processing. This leads to a RAKE receiver with large number of fingers. Channel shortening can help in simplifying the RAKE receiver architecture by reducing the channel taps. ...
